Who We Are
The seeds were planted in September of 2021, when a community discussion of The End of Night inspired Douglas UCC to update its lighting and educate the community about the effects of artificial light at night. During Dark Sky Week, April 2026, one church’s project became a community movement.
Saugatuck-Douglas Friends of the Night Sky is an informal group of volunteers. We have no budget, headquarters, or mailing address, but we are working to restore darker skies to our communities by using better, smarter light.
